Three men believed to have connections to a triad gang have been arrested in connection with a seven-person attack on a man in Tai Kok Tsui on New Year’s Day.
The victim, a 29-year-old surnamed Cheung, was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital last night after sustaining injuries to his right arm.
According to HK01, Cheung was behind the wheel of a seven-seater car that was sandwiched between two other cars after he stopped his car outside Charming Garden on Hoi Ting Road in Tai Kok Tsui at 8pm.
About seven men got out of both vehicles on either side of Cheung and then started attacking his car with knives, and, during the fracas, he got a cut on his right arm.
On.cc reports that after a few seconds, the seven men then got back into their vehicles, fled the scene, and Cheung called the police.
About five minutes after the attack, police received a report that a private car had been set on fire near the Yau Ma Tei police station, about 600 meters away from the site of the attack, according to Apple Daily.
Firefighters put out the flames and a preliminary investigation found that the burned car, which on.cc reports had a fake license plate, was one of the vehicles involved in the attack.
Very little is known about the three suspects, but all three men are believed to be members of the Sun Yee On triad gang.
Cheung refused to tell reporters gathered at the hospital why he was attacked.
The case is being handled by the Mong Kok police station’s anti-triad unit.
