36-year-old man killed after minibus and motorcycle collide in Yuen Long

Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident which took place during the early hours of today in which a man died.

The incident occurred at around 6:20am when the motorcyclist, a 36-year-old Indian man surnamed Ahmad, was travelling eastbound along Castle Peak Road in Yuen Long. As Ahmad approached Long Yat Road, he reportedly collided with a red minibus which was travelling westbound along Castle Peak Road.

The 36-year-old was rushed to Pok Oi Hospital with serious head injuries and was declared dead at 7:10am. He is survived by his pregnant wife and two-year-old daughter, HK01 reports. Ahmad is reported to have been a construction worker on the Express Rail Link project, and was travelling to work at the time of the accident.

The minibus’ 53-year-old driver, a Hong Kong man surnamed Kwok, was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.

An investigation by police officers from New Territories North is underway.
