Two men have been arrested on suspicion of loitering after CCTV footage caught them sniffing a female neighbor’s shoes in a Tuen Mun housing estate.
The suspects, aged 30 and 31, were arrested on Tuesday and Wednesday. Police earlier received a report about suspicious behavior from a resident at Affluence Garden, inspector Leung Kwun-ho said in a press conference.
The resident was informed of the acts by a neighbor on the same floor, whose CCTV camera outside his flat captured a man picking up her sneakers and smelling them, according to SCMP. She then installed a camera too, which filmed another man giving her shoes, including a pair of high heels, a whiff.

Police said the two suspects do not know each other, but that they all live in the same building. Clothes worn by the suspects during the shoe-sniffing at have been seized as evidence.
Under Hong Kong law, loitering carries a maximum sentence of two years imprisonment.
