Police arrested a man for tailing and harassing at least three schoolchildren, aged between eight and 11, in an attempt to photograph their feet.
Police officers on patrol in Mong Kok noticed a man loitering suspiciously and walking close to children Tuesday.
Later, the man followed a 10-year-old boy—who was wearing his school uniform—out of a restaurant on Tong Mi Road. He grabbed the boy’s hand, telling him his shoelaces were untied, and attempted to drag him away. The boy resisted and police stepped forward to arrest the 40-year-old suspect surnamed Lau.
In May, the same man tailed an 11-year-old girl on nearby Bute Street when she was walking home alone. After stepping on her shoe, Lau told her he would help her put it back on and brought her to an alley. There, he took photos of her foot with his phone. He also grabbed the girl by the neck and threatened her not to tell her family about the incident.

When police apprehended Lau Tuesday night, they discovered a third victim from the photos in his mobile phone. Initial investigation suggests that an 8-year-old schoolboy was similarly harassed on Boundary Street in Prince Edward Monday.
Lau only photographed his victims’ feet, police said, and not their legs or any other part of their body. He is being investigated on suspected charges of indecent assault, outraging public indecency and criminal intimidation.
