K-Pop star CL added to ZoukOut lineup as headlining act rapper Nelly pulls out

Korean popstar and “baddest female” (her words, not ours) CL has been added to the lineup for Singaporean festival ZoukOut’s first ever Hong Kong edition this week, after headlining act, American rapper Nelly pulled out.

Organisers cited “unforeseen circumstances” that were “out of their control” for Nelly’s departure, but did not specify the reason for the last-minute change.

CL, who is best known as the frontwoman and rapper for K-Pop girl group 2NE1, collaborated with fellow Korean phenomenon PSY for his song “Daddy” last year before embarking on a series of other high-profile collaborations with American EDM acts such as Skrillex and Diplo.

(In other words, the former scene-kid-turned-DJ, and M.I.A.’s ex who chose a paleontology-themed stage name.)

Other previously announced acts — Ne-Yo (a.k.a. He Who is So Sick of Love Songs) and Nicky Romero — will still be performing at Formula E’s Emotion Club.

On top of the standard bottle service, canapés, and lounges, revellers can get themselves (temporary) tattoos and have their flaws magnified at caricature stations.

Partygoers can either fill their bellies with food from Limewood, Hotshot, Amalfitana, Nice Pops and Homie Cookies, or (and this is what we’d go for) challenge their mates to a game of beer pong.

ZoukOut’s Hong Kong brand, “Live Edition”, will be taking place at the city’s first ever Formula E ePrix, which will see world class drivers race in electric cars for glitz, glam, and eco-friendly competition.
