Tear gas hit the crowds at 2am on Monday, Sep. 29.
Sunday, Sep. 28 was the first day of Occupy Central. The crowds were undeterred by the tear gas and continued to stream into Admiralty at 6:40pm.
Buses were stranded as people took over highways.
The city’s glitzy skyscrapers overlooked the protestors.
By 2am, people were getting tired, but a rare few had comfortable seats.
One guaranteed way to make the crowd erupt into cheers: fly a drone overhead.
The impressive Central Government Complex loomed overhead.
Tear gas was used at 2am, but the crowds were unfazed.
Supplies were carted in all night.
Other supplies were dropped in from above.
People spotted police on a blocked overpass and started shouting “Fuck your mother!” (a common insult in Cantonese)
Protestors made way for an ambulance, applauding and cheering as it passed.
Police and protestors alike were tired.
The Red Cross was still open.
People slept anywhere they could.
