In the final moments of his 25-hour standoff with other cops now streaming into his home, Lt. Col. Kittikarn Sangboon attempted a dramatic escape, according to footage captured by a police drone.
Footage shot from above his home, where he had barricaded himself since Tuesday, shows Kittikarn smash out a second floor window with a knife in his hand before leaping out. Police had reportedly shot him about 20 minutes after noon.
He lands amid refuse behind his home and appears unable to get up when police commandos exit a rear door and subdue him with force about 30 seconds later.
