Yesterday, Thai rockstar Toon Bodyslam finally reached the end of his charity run across all of Thailand. He was given a hero’s welcome in the Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai at 6:20 in the evening after running for 386 over 55 days and covering 2,215 kilometers since he began his run in Betong, Yala province.

The run was to raise money for Thailand’s hospitals. He set a goal of THB700 million but actually raised THB1,142 million for 11 needy hospitals as his mission completely wowed Thai citizens who could not stop watching, clicking, sharing, supporting, and donating. He had a few injuries along the way, but he never let it stop him.

He was even joined for a bit by beloved Muay Thai star Buakaw, which made fans of both stars go crazy with happiness.

Toon will fly to Bangkok tomorrow where a motorcade will take him from Don Meuang to, most likely, Government House to meet with Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha.

Toon Bodyslam was also named Man of the Year and Public Idol for 2017, according to the opinion poll conducted Saturday by Super Poll, reported Thai PBS.

The poll revealed that 53.4 percent of the respondents voted for Toon Bodyslam, aka Artiwara Kongmalai, as their Man of the Year and Public Idol for the year 2017 followed by 7.5 percent for well-known actress Patcharapa “Aum” Chaichua, who got 7.5 percent.
