A Thai man had to be pulled up from a sea of mud by rescuers this morning after he got a little tipsy and decided to go for a morning run — just to fall off the edge of a pier.

Sompong Singsita, 32, fell five meters into the mud off the Chonburi coast at around 5am today, prompting his drinking buddy to call for help.

According to his friend, Songka Kamsang, after they finished drinking a half a bottle of liquor, Songka decided to “get some exercise” and went off for a run because it was morning.

In a video showing Songka lying helplessly in the sea of mud, the man remains a good spirit.

“How did you run, bro? You just fell in there while running? Are you ok?” the videographer of Channel 8 asked, telling Songka that rescuers were on their way.

“Yes, I’m ok. I just can’t move. First, give me a cigarette,” Songka replied.

Damn.

In the end, it took rescuers an hour to pull him up using a forklift. After he got up on the pier, Singha said he was all okay.

“I was smoking and took a wrong step and then fell … but yes, before that I was working out.”
