Suea Krong, the celebrity cat in Thailand that has appeared in several commercials—and even has his own Facebook stickers—has been diagnosed with a genetic heart disease. His owner posted a long heartfelt message to his millions of fans on Facebook.

Suea Krong, or “tiger” in Thai, is the star cat of the famous Facebook page “Kingdom of Tigers.” Suea Krong is known as the leader among the 13 cats owned by a Thai woman named Nutch Prasopsin, who uses her pets’ celebrity status to create awareness and raise funds for stray cats.

Nutch Prasopsin is the same woman who had American YouTuber My Mate Nate, charged for animal cruelty for filming his cats fight a scorpion.

Last night, Nutch announced in a long Facebook post that Suea Krong displays symptoms of pneumonia, irregular heartbeat, high fever, and loss of appetite.

The x-ray confirmed that Suea Krong has pneumonia and tested positive for cardiomegaly, a level three heart disease. Because his right atrium could not pump blood fast enough, his lung is working extra hard and causing the loss of appetite.

“There is no cure for heart disease. We can only monitor his symptoms and put him on medication. I’ll take care of Suea Krong as best as I can, no matter what,” Nutch wrote.

“Suea Krong is the cat that has always inspired joy. He was born a giver. I don’t know how long he will be with us. Although we have to start counting down…but we hope time will go by slowly.”

She added Suea Krong showed no sign of the disease during his recent oral hygiene checkup. This genetic heart disease that he carries is commonly found in Scottish fold cats.

Editor’s Note: The earlier version of this story showed a photo of a cat eating cake. That cat, despite being equally fluffy and adorable, is not Suea Krong. The misidentification is regretted.
