Thailand has extended the public viewing of the royal crematorium of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej until Dec. 31.
Patcharaporn Intreyonk, a permanent secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, said HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn wishes the citizens, youths, and those living in remote areas to have the opportunity to view the Thai cultural works, Post Today reported.
The exhibition has attracted over 2.3 million visitors since it opened to the public on Nov. 2. Initially, the exhibition was supposed to close at the end of November.
The royal crematorium, which is meant to depict heaven, is the Thai artists’ interpretation of Mountain Meru, a sacred cosmological mountain in Buddhism and Hinduism. The structures took more than eight months to complete.
The exhibition opens from 7am to 10pm daily, with only 8,000 foreigners being allowed in each day. Check out our guidelines here.
