Being a professional racer is not license to drive like a maniac in town, as one totally demolished red Ferrari can attest to this morning.
Saravut Sereethoranakul, a 36-year-old circuit racer and drink supplement seller, slammed his fancy sports car into a concrete barrier on the outskirts of Bangkok at about 3:30am, trapping him in the driver’s seat with a broken leg.
Photos from the wreckage show half of the Ferrari all but gone, with pieces scattered through the street where the crash occurred.
Saravut is a stock-car racer who competes in the Thailand Super Series and owns a company that sells Juice Nest, one of those bird spit drinks.
In the passenger seat was the 25-year-old actress he’s been romantically linked to, “just friends,” she says. Sananthachat Thanapatpisal, who’s best known as Dao in the teen drama series Hormones, sustained minor injuries and complained of chest pain. They were rushed to Sikarin Hospital in the Bang Na district before being transferred to another hospital.
Saravut told officers that he felt as if he hit an oil slick that propelled the vehicle forward and into the concrete barrier, according to Khaosod. Sure, must be that magic oil that also accelerated the vehicle to high speed.
It was unclear if he was administered any sobriety tests on the scene. Police say they are still investigating the costly accident today.
Clarification: This story has been updated to reflect Sananthachat’s subsequent claims that they’re not a thing.
