Thai police asked Interpol to create a Blue Notice to go out to their 190 country members in an attempt to locate missing convicted ex-prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra, said a police  spokesperson on Saturday.

After the Supreme Court found the ousted former leader of Thailand guilty of neglect of duty for her role in a rice-pledging scheme that cost the country billions of dollars, she is now facing a five-year jail sentence and an arrest warrant has been issued for her in Thailand, reported Thai PBS.

The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been asked to cancel her passport as well, according to police spokesman Pol. Col. Krisna Pattanacharoen.

A Blue Notice from Interpol is used to inform police in all member countries that information, such as location, is being sought for a suspect in a criminal investigation.
