A Thai actress best known for her villainous roles on TV soaps opened up to reporters last night about how she the “lived a life of a blind person” when she suffered from a bout of pink eye that lasted — a couple of days.
Pink eye.
Punyaporn Poonpipat, 32, who posted a photo of herself crying at the hospital earlier this month on Instagram, much to the dismay of her fans, told reporters that her doctor had diagnosed her with conjunctivitis because she often played with her mobile phone in the dark and her eyes were also irritated by contact lenses.
“I’d like my story to be a lesson to others — you should keep your lights on while playing with your phone,” she told Sanook.
And we thank you for that.
According to her Instagram post, Punyaporn “rushed” to the hospital on July 8 only to find she had pink eye — a diagnosis so common, it’s practically a rite of passage.
“It’s torturing. I thought to myself — am I going blind?” she captioned her dramatic post while explaining how she suddenly had “uncontrollable tears.” (Obviously, her friends snapped a photo of that, and her eyes worked well enough to put up an Instagram post.)
“I lived a life of a blind person. It was dark all the time. That night was torture. I couldn’t sleep,” she told reporters. Wow.
Despite the oh-so-dramatic hardship, Punyaporn miraculously got better within days — like it does for pretty much everyone with pink eye — and now regards this experience as eye-opening (pun fully intended).
After all, she has got to go back to work, just like the rest of us.
“I was so low in spirits that day,” said Punyaporn. “From now on, I’ll take good care of myself. I didn’t know what I would do if I had to take a month-long break. I still have to pay my mortgage. I need to work. I have burden. Please hire me.”
