The rear end of a white car with red plates – signifying it’s new – busted through a low wall separating it from a three-story parking structure plunge this morning in northwest metro Bangkok.
The heart-dropping scene occurred at the Public Health Ministry at about 8:45am when a driver backed up just a little too aggressively, knocking down the parking lot wall, and leaving its back axle and two wheels suspended in the air.
A security guard at the building told traffic news outlet JS100 he was at his station when he suddenly heard a loud sound and saw pieces of cement raining down. When he looked up, he saw the car’s rear end sticking out of the building so he went upstairs to check it out.
When he reached the fourth floor, he discovered a good Samaritan had already pulled the female driver from the car. She was reportedly in shock but did not sustain any injuries. The security guard speculated that the woman may have put the car in the wrong gear because she wasn’t used to her new car.
Just after 9am, the woman was waiting for her insurance and a tow truck to retrieve her damaged vehicle.
For some reason, vehicles have a habit of falling from Bangkok parking lots just all the time, including a near-fatal October 2018 incident in which a pickup plunged six stories from a car park atop the Food and Drug Administration building.
