After hours of heavy rainfall last night, several Bangkok roads were flooded during rush hour this morning, with the suburban areas suffering the most.

Several major roads including Lat Phrao, Ratchada, Phaholyothin, Chaengwattana, and Ngamwongwan were hit with 20-centimeter flood this morning, worsening the morning traffic, according to reports of Department of Drainage and Sewerage.

However, Wangthonglang district, where Lat Phrao Road cuts through had the highest rainfall in Bangkok last night (130 millimeters). The district’s largest high school Bodindecha (Sing Singhaseni) and Satriwitthaya 2 School in the nearby area had to cancel classes today.

At least five schools around Bangkok have been forced to cancel classes today due to flooding in the facilities or on nearby roads. In other provinces, five people have died from flood-related disasters this week.
