Thailand is showing off its royal barges in a royal plaza in Bangkok’s old town.
Highlights of the exhibit now open in the Sanam Luang include replicas of four royal barges including the Suphannahong Royal and Narai Song Suban His Majesty King Rama IX Royal barges, as well as cultural performances from different regions of Thailand and a “spectacular” light-and-sound show.
Regional performances start at 6:30pm every night, and Wednesdays feature tribal dances, chanting of boat shanties and masked khon dance performances.
The exhibition is open to the public 10am to 10pm now through Nov. 11. Admission is free. Get there on foot from the Chao Phraya River’s Phra Chan pier.
Earlier this month, the annual Royal Barge Procession ceremony was postponed until Dec. 12.
