Red Funeral: Husband hosts joyful funeral for his passed wife who liked to dance

A funeral doesn’t necessarily have to be an occasion for grief. A thoughtful widower in Phetchabun province organized a fun funeral for his deceased wife yesterday. Guests were encouraged to wear colorful clothes and dance to upbeat music.

Somkuan Chuanoon, 51, said his wife, Lomchoy, was always a happy person and, looking down from heaven, she wouldn’t want to see her friends and family sad.

“Our family wants her to go to a better place. Although we wear colorful clothes, we are crying inside,” Somkuan said.

Sadly, Lomchoy recently passed away after a battle with stomach cancer.

Her cremation took place yesterday. Following the Buddhist tradition, guests paraded her coffin around the crematory, but instead of remaining calm, they danced to morlum music. Some folks were seen shaking their booties in tears, Sanook reported.

“She was an angel. She attended Buddhist ceremonies to make merit. She helped others. She was a fun woman who loved colorful clothes. When there was a party, she would be the one leading us to the dance floor,” Somkuan spoke of his beloved wife.
