Officials from Phuket International Airport issued a press release yesterday in response to a viral post made on social media on Sunday regarding uncomfortable conditions in the airport’s Domestic Terminal.

The response came by an official notice posted on the Phuket International Airport Facebook page following a post made on the Facebook page of ‘Paithoon Tou Monpanthong’ regarding the lack of air-conditioning for several days. She said the terminal was “like a sauna” with a very bad smell of people sweating.

The post made by Paithoon has garnered over 1,700 reactions and nearly 700 shares, read, “Let’s share this experience in hopes of reaching someone responsible. I have been to Phuket Airport many times. Sometimes I have to face unsuitable service staff at airport. I am writing this because I feel so sorry for the tourists. There were some fans blowing the air instead air-conditioning and a lot of people inside,” it said.

The press release issued read, “There were a lot of passengers at that moment. Also, the air-conditioning at the Domestic Terminal was still being fixed as it is not working well. Right now staff are working to fix the problem by placing fans inside the departure lounge. We have ordered new air-conditioning units but that takes time. In addition, only three of the eight air-coolers in the terminal are working. Our staff are trying to rectify this problem as quickly as possible.”
