Line Man delivery service today said it was not responsible for a delivery rider getting stuck with piles of undeliverable food.
A company rep insisted that the rider seen in a viral video was left holding the bag by a competitor despite the distinctive company apparel he was wearing.
“The company has contacted the rider and was informed that this order came from another delivery platform, not Line Man (riders can work on multiple platforms),” the comment read.
Whether it was some quick-thinking CSR for an automotive company, a TikTok video filmed by a Ford Motors employee proved no good deed goes unfilmed and has won wide praise since yesterday for seeming to show employees rallying to help the despondent delivery rider.
TikTok user Mymolly55, said she’s an employee at the Ford dealership in Bang Chak where they found the rider in a Line Man jacket loitering near a booth set up for an event.
“Feeling sorry for this Line Man rider, they got ditched while trying to deliver 30 boxes of salmon and are unable to reach the buyer by phone,” read the text on the video.
In the video, the delivery rider says he was unable to reach the customer by phone after they canceled right after buying 30 boxes of salmon, priced at THB60 each.
The woman then called her staff to help, where she claims they bought all his sad salmon for a low price.
“Us Ford employees helped support. He sold it for cheap. Nobody should do this to people trying to earn a living,” the video said.
The internet swooned over their good deed, with many noting that more delivery platforms should enact regulations to protect their low-paid delivery riders.
Line said today that it already does.
“In this case, if the work is received through the Line Man platform, whether the order is cancelled, or the delivery rider is unable to contact the customer, or has their order refused, the rider will be able to claim the cost of the order from the company in full without having to be responsible at their own expense,” the rep wrote.
