The government has dismissed the false news that there would be a five-day holiday in October for the public to observe the royal cremation of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

In fact, only Oct. 26 was declared a national holiday—the day marks the royal cremation of the beloved monarch where thousands of Thai artists will perform day and night throughout the Sanam Laung area.

The statement was posted on the official Facebook page of the government’s data center on Tuesday.

“In response to the false news that the government has increased the holiday from one to five days, it is not true. The cabinet concluded in an April 25 meeting that Oct. 26 is a public holiday, which is the day of the royal cremation,” the statement said.

On the same day, Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha also confirmed there will be no more holidays added. According to Thairath, the prime minister said “everybody will have to go to work.”
