Royal cremation on Oct. 26 declared as public holiday

The royal cremation for the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej will take place on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, which has been declared a public holiday by the Thai government to allow mourners to attend the ceremony.

The ceremony is scheduled to last five days from Oct. 25 – 29, with the cremation taking place on Oct. 26.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha has submitted a letter to the Office of His Majesty’s Principal Private Secretary about setting up portraits of HM the late King across the country and abroad throughout November, so that all Thais can pay respect and remember their beloved monarch.

According to the office, the matters have been granted royal approval by King Maha Vajiralongkorn, according to National News Bureau of Thailand.
