We have all had that moment — the one where we think we’ve come so far in life that our parents advice no longer has as much value — but this viral Thai commercial is a good reminder that mom still knows best, at least when it comes to how to take care of her kids.
Thailife Insurance, the Thai insurance company known for making the world cry with their seriously manipulative commercials — seriously, check out this 2014 bad boy — has done it again, with their latest effort already having earned more than 16 million views on YouTube.
The commercial “Mother Knows Best,” released two weeks ago, portrays a common situation at a dining table. A bratty boy refuses to get off his mobile phone and eat, then talks back to his mom, making the point that she knows nothing about today’s world and the role of technology.
Of course, mom probably doesn’t know that much about the internet, but what does she know best? We’re gonna let you watch the video for yourself.
Commenters from all over the world seemed to agree: moms rock.
“This reminds me of the time when I got so angry trying to teach my mom how to use a mobile phone,” a Thai commenter wrote. “People who think their parents are stupid, think again. You got so smart because of your parents’ money that sent you off to school. They paid for your internet. It’s not that they don’t want to learn about new things … but all of their time was dedicated to you.”
From a bit further north, one commenter wrote: “I’m Japanese. I think we should appreciate our mothers. If our mother died, we couldn’t lead our lives by ourselves.”
