Locals seek riches in magic monk’s beard-shaped bee colony

What do you get when a colony of bees appears on the chin of a recently completed statue of a magical monk? Winning lottery numbers, of course.

Local residents were recently astounded to discover a beehive that looks like a neatly trimmed, hipster beard on a recently completed statue of Luang Phu Mun Bhurithatto, who many believe wielded mystical powers.

The statue, located at Wat Prachaniyom in Sakon Nakhon province
The beehives, perched on the chin of the statue of a famous monk in Sakol Nakhon province, have been hailed as a “miracle” by many local residents.
The 19-meter high statue at Wat Prachaniyom temple in Sawangdaengdin district was dedicated to the memory of Luang Phu Mun Bhurithatto, a local monk, well known by many Thai Buddhists for his alleged magical powers.

The statue already enriched one local, according to a former local official who hopes it heralds further prosperity for the community.

The temple’s abbot struck a curmogeony note however, saying that gambling is a sin, and Buddhists should release their obsession over it and focus on good deeds.
