The Department of Land Transport (DLT) has warned the public not to trust scammers who claim they can issue driver’s licenses with no test required — you still have to take the driving test yourself.

DLT Director Sanit Promwong said that he has instructed officials to take legal action against driver’s license scammers who try to find customers at the transport offices, following complaints from the customers themselves.

Sanit also vowed to prosecute any DLT officers who were found to be involved with the scam.

Meanwhile, officials will keep a close eye on applicants for driver’s licenses to make sure that they do not send someone else to take the driving test for them. Currently, the applicants have to go through a five-hour training course and score 90 percent on their driving tests. CCTV cameras has also been installed for proper surveillance of the exam room and test driving areas, Daily News reported.

For the convenience of those who wish to obtain a driver’s license, they may reserve a spot in the training program ahead of time by contacting the Department of Land Transport — either directly at the stations, by phone, or online.

Sanit also added that it is not okay to send someone to take the test for you — just in case that hadn’t been made clear.
