Jackass-wannabes detained, fined for viral public disturbance video

Four Bangkok youths were arrested and fined for public disturbance yesterday following the highly criticized, self-published video of them causing a commotion all over Bangkok.

Yesterday, the young men, aged 16 to 20 were summoned to Thonglor police station — along with their guardians — after the Tuesday release of a video showing them climbing on top of cars in traffic, diving into public toilets, and sliding down MRT escalator handrails, among other things, reported Morning News.

The two 20 year olds were identified as Wanchalerm Premkasem and Supod Srakobkaew, while the names of the two minors, aged 16 and 17, were withheld.

Pol. Col. Kotrapong Jitpakpoom said that three of the members — Wanchalerm and the youngest two — were fined THB1,000 (about US$30) for causing public disturbance. Supod, who climbed on top of people’s cars at the Asoke intersection, however, will not be charged unless the cars’ owners come forward to take legal action.

The quartet of doofuses apologized to the public in a TV interview and said they regretted their action. Well, sure. Now they do.

While saying they’re sorry, the group still has the video up on Wanchalerm’s Facebook page. It now has more than a million views.
