A female inmate’s desperate and acrobatic escape from an overcrowded Bangkok cell had the public chuckling over her Spider-Man-level agility after she scaled a wall and pulled off a Marvel-worthy ceiling cling.
The woman appeared to be intoxicated when she was brought to the Sutthisan Police Station this morning on suspicion of harassment and “mischief,” deputy chief Suebphong Karuna told Coconuts Bangkok today. She was stressed out when she climbed the 3-meter wall inside the jail and refused to come down after 30 minutes. Officers called in a rescue foundation to help bring her down and put her into her cell.
Suebphong said she was later hit with a weapons charge after an unregistered gun was found in her car.
Women account for a disproportionate number of Thai inmates, a large portion of which languish in jail for minor drug offenses.
After years making fun of meth-head men yelling at god from atop utility poles, Thais were all too ready to have at reinterpreting the striking photo of the moment.
