Hero husky fights to the death to protect pooch peers from cobra

A loyal Siberian husky in Nonthaburi lost his life in an honorable battle to protect his home and 13 little doggies from an intruding cobra yesterday.

“Thaikie”, the 7-year-old leader of dogs in a breeding facility, was found dead at his home around 6pm yesterday next to the remains of his opponent — a 1.8 meter cobra with bite marks to its head and a dead rat, which the cobra probably chased into Thaikie’s home.

In a profound moment of sadness, reporters arrived at the scene to find eight Chihuahuas, three shih-tzus, and two pomeranians standing over their fallen hero.

Kit Poonyapat, owner of Thaikie, who came home to discover the tragic scene, said his neighbors heard the brave Thaikie barking, but they could not come to check on the dog.

Kit said that if Thaikie didn’t sacrifice his life to protect his home, the cobra could have returned and harmed the other animals and people in the family, Thairath reported.

“Thaikie, you will always be the hero of our family, now and forever,” his owner wrote on Facebook.
