The dreaded Valentine’s Day is returning to Bangkok, and while the air will be full of love and synthetic fur from stupid stuffed animals, the holiday will be a nightmare for some lonely peeps and new singletons.
But don’t stay at home alone weeping over a bucket of ice cream — head to Trasher’s “Hey, I said I’m okay” party and weep with everyone else as you listen to sad Thai songs of loss and heartache.
“Having a lover is like having an air-conditioner: it feels good but it’s not a necessity,” organizers said on the event’s Facebook page.
“If one day that air-con starts acting out and produces hot air, you gotta ditch it and get a new one. Still, you don’t die from not sleeping in a room without an air-con.”
So deep.
Before moving on and getting yourself a new air-conditioner, cry your heart out one last time at Trasher’s party and repeat to yourself, and anyone who will listen: “Hey, I said I’m okay.” Hold hands with your new friends and whine along to the saddest heartbreak tracks specially selected for the occasion.
Tickets cost THB300, and come with a free drink to mend your heart.
The party takes place this Saturday, from 9pm onwards.
