Expect another long holiday coming soon after the next postponed Songkran holiday was forecast to be coming in September and October.

While the cabinet has yet to choose dates for the second and third Songkran holidays, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said today at the Government House that it’s likely to happen as soon as September because it has no holidays. He also teased the idea of putting one in late October for the sake of making a four-day weekend along with Chulalongkorn Memorial Day on Oct. 23.

What about rumors it could come in time for Mother’s Day next week? Very unlikely, Wissanu said.

“The most important thing we agree upon is making the announcement in advance, so to announce a holiday within a week isn’t possible,” he said today before attending the weekly cabinet meeting.
