A bar brawl ended up in a shooting that injured eight early this morning in Bangkok’s nightclub row.

Makkasan police found numerous people injured and arrested one suspect after they responded to reports of gunfire at around 1am at Onyx nightclub on RCA.

Eight men and women, said to be in their 20s, were hurt and taken to the hospital.

Witnesses said a man had walked in and started a fight with another man, before brandishing a weapon and firing a dozen shots into the ground, causing stray bullets to hit others. A Chinese national was taken into custody by Makkasan police. More than 10 spent shells were found.

The club was celebrating a final night of Songkran festivities. Chaos gripped the large crowd of revelers after shots rang out, sending people running out of the venue, according to video clips on social media of the aftermath.

The suspect was awaiting further interrogation today.
