Maybe catnip was no longer enough for this woman’s cats.
A 23-year-old Thai woman was arrested by the immigration police at Chiang Mai International Airport after they discovered three kilograms of methamphetamine stuffed in her cat food cans and other food packages.
Following a report of possible narcotics smuggling aboard a flight from Macao to Chiang Mai, the immigration office dispatched an investigation team to search the flights. Investigators found the methamphetamine stuffed inside passenger Chutima Boonam-ang’s chocolates and eight cat food cans.
Chutima who flew home from Macao and claimed she did not know about the methamphetamine inside her cat food. It was a mysterious, cat-loving Chinese man, she explained, who gave her the cans for her kitties back home in Chiang Mai.
Unconvinced, the authorities charged her with possessing narcotic substances for sale illegally, Khaosod reported.
