A footballer said he plans to appeal a Thai Football Association ban from the sport after he brutally attacked an on-field rival.

Aitsaret Noichaiboon has told reporters that the association banned him from competing professionally for three years. The 29-year-old said he was remorseful, and wanted forgiveness and mercy from the association to salvage his career.

“I am remorseful for what I have done out of recklessness,” Aitsaret told Kom Chad Luek. “But I still love my football career. I want to ask for mercy, and hope the Football Association of Thailand consider and review this case.”

“However, I am ready to be helped liable but I wish I could continue to be a professional footballer. I am ready to improve myself and this behavior will never happen again,” Aitsaret said.

Aitsaret also noted that, due to the rapid upset of his life, he may have to start selling look chin ping to support his family and three children.

The ban hammer came down after Aitsaret delivered an elbow strike to Supasan “Hall” Ruangsuphanimit during a football match earlier this month for the Thai League 3 National Championship.

The Muay Thai-style move by the former Bangkok FC player came after Hall kicked Aitsaret’s foot as they tackled the ball.

Aitsaret was red-carded and then booted off the team shortly after game’s end.

North Bangkok University FC won the match 3:0.

Hall, who is part of North Bangkok University FC, required two dozen stitches to his upper lip and is still recovering from facial fractures and swelling at a hospital.

However, he insists he isn’t angry and has forgiven Aitsaret as the two were seen hugging it out Thursday. He still plans to press charges stemming from his injuries, and said he hopes Aitsaret will learn from the incident.
