No one has taken responsibility for a giant block of cement at a construction site that fell and injured a foreigner near Asoke Montri Road late Saturday morning.

Chaiyo Pattarachai, a Thai man who witnessed the incident, said he was driving to work when a big chunk of cement fell down from a backhoe onto a foreigner passing by on the sidewalk.

Chaiyo pulled over and went down to help the injured foreigner. The Thai man then tried to find the person in charge of the construction site, but no one stepped up to talk to him.

The foreigner, estimated to be in his 40s, received a minor arm injury. He ended up going to the hospital on his own.

Chaiyo said the construction site had walls surrounding it, but it didn’t have any warning signs, construction site indications, or any prevention panels. He wants construction companies to be more careful of possible accidents they might cause to the public and provide compensation in such cases, according to Sanook.
