Thailand may revoke April holidays, close schools, shut down cockfighting

Songkran celebrations haven’t just been canceled, the three holidays they consist of are now likely to be off the table.

In the unlikely event you were planning a low-cost viro-liday next month or just heading to your home province to shelter in place with your family,  the cabinet tomorrow will decide whether to cancel the holidays outright and move them to a later date.

A government spokeswoman tweeted at 3pm that a decision to postpone the holidays would be decided tomorrow along with closures of schools, entertainment venues and more, including cock fighting arenas.

Thailand also confirmed an additional tranche of 33 new cases Monday, raising the total to 147 since the outbreak began.
