An American tourist and the waitstaff he got into a running brawl with on Phuket have all been fined for their beachside rumble.

The 44-year-old U.S. national and employees of the Capri restaurant at Karon Beach had to pay THB500 each for their daytime melee that went viral and was chalked up to a simple misunderstanding. All parties also agreed not to press charges.

The brawl erupted after the American, identified only by his family name of Connelly, got into an argument with three restaurant employees Monday, according to multiple reports. Police officials sharing details of the case did not explain the source of the alleged misunderstanding.

Footage of the fight shows about a dozen employees pushing and shoving Connelly as he tries to leave on a motorcycle parked in front of the restaurant. In a tank top and bike helmet, he makes an effort to fight back before realizing the odds are tilted wildly against him and flees down the street.

Dozens of staff – male and female – run after him, some still taking swings. A couple of them wield makeshift weapons including a red flag and what appears to be a board.
