Giant Spider Crab at Sea Life

Oh yeah, you read that right. Giant Spider Crab. Although it may sound like something from your nightmares, we assure you, it’s actually quite wondrous to observe the crab from behind some glass. Some very thick glass. The leg span of these crabs can reach up to three meters, so be prepared to be amazed.

Giant Pacific Octopus

There’s no lack of giant creatures at Sea Life, which is definitely a good thing. Even though this octopus can grow to a length of four meters, it can squeeze through any hole the size of its eyeballs, because it has no bones in its body, just a hard, jaw-like beak. It’s almost out-of-this-world, but believe it or not, you can see this amazing creature for yourself right at the lowest floor in Siam Paragon.

The Shark Walk

This one is unspeakably beautiful. Walk over a thin sheet of acrylic so that you can see sharks swimming by right below you. This is not for the faint-hearted — not much separates you from the five types of sharks that swim in the tank! But if you need to tear your eyes from the water to regain your courage, there’s more to do in there; interactive screens teach you all you would want to know about the sharks meandering below you.

The Otters!

Last but most certainly not least on this list are the otters at Sea Life. After the giant spider crab, giant pacific octopus, and shark walk, we had to end on a soft, cuddly note in order to keep our wits about us. The adorable otters reside in the Tropical Rainforest section of Sea Life, where you can watch them raise their pups and munch on sea urchins.

Meet the late Mao Zedong and Princess Diana (!)

Have you ever wanted to look Michael Jackson in the eye and tell him that his music changed your life? Do you want to be the first person in the world to post a cheeky selfie with ever-proper Queen Elizabeth II herself? Well, we might not be able to promise you that… but you can console yourself with their exact wax look-alikes at Madame Tussauds Bangkok, on the fifth floor of Siam Paragon. You can even find the late Mao Zedong there, if he’s more your speed.

Let your kids be grown-ups for a day

KidZania Bangkok is an entertainment and learning center for kids aged 4-14 years, where they can experience (for a couple precious hours) what it’s like to have a real job and run their own errands about town.

It’s a total flip of the real world: parents can be put in a parent day-care (they call it a waiting room to make you feel better) while kids govern the KidZania city and manage their own KidZania currency. They even receive interest from depositing their money in the KidZania bank. Your kids can step into the roles of banker, barber, auto-repairman, dentist, chef, researcher, farmer, secret agent, and so many more. To be honest, this sounds like a pretty sweet deal: sit back, relax, and let your kids take care of it all.
