Nadech Kugimiya, one of Thailand’s biggest superstars, has temporarily left behind his life of glamor as he became a monk in Udon Thani this morning.
The 23-year-old actor will be away from public events to practice Dhamma for 15 days after being ordained at Wat Naluang this morning, along with 809 other disciples.
Nadech’s family and fans showed up to support the actor’s new austere lifestyle, along with actress Yaya Urassaya, whom fans ship as Nadech’s girlfriend.
According to Thairath, Nadech has been given the monk name “Jattasanlo,” meaning the person who has given up all their afflictions… well, at least for 15 days.
