Whether or not you hated the ending of Game of Thrones, at this point, you’ve probably already cycled through the five stages of grief and are finally ready to laugh about it all — yes, the show is over, leaving a cheerless, cavernous hole in our souls (ha, ha) — so why not take a hilarious journey through the Seven Kingdoms instead?
Game of Thrones Comedy Game Show will take place next week at a Greek restaurant in Bangkok’s Silom area. The one-night-only event will feature a trivia night based on Game of Thrones-related questions, and the winning group will be collectively crowned as “Bangkok’s No. 1 GOT Superfan.”
“We are doing a GOT theme for this game show because it is a universally loved and respected TV series around the world — and this time is perfect as its run ended this year,” said Delfin Solomon, creative director of Bangkok Hilarious Comedy Club, the group that’s hosting the event.
After the quiz, local comedians will take the stage with some routines inspired by the fantasy show. The comedy set will be entirely in English. Note, however, that we’ve been told there will be jokes that are inappropriate for underage audiences.
If you know nothing about Game of Thrones, there shouldn’t be a problem “as long as they love comedy,” said Solomon.
“Non-GOT fans who love comedy will definitely love the standup comedy portion of the show as it’s comedy that they love and to enjoy it in a different type of environment like this will bring a new kind of energy.”
Tickets must be purchased online in advance. The event will start at 7:30pm on July 25 at Aesop’s Bangkok. The family-run Greek restaurant will also serve Mediterranean dishes and drinks at special prices.
