Censors have not banned No Escape starring Owen Wilson

Owen Wilson, who is best known for his comedy roles in Zoolander and the Wedding Crashers, stars in the action film, No Escape, about a violent uprising in an unnamed Southeast Asian country.

The movie was shot in Thailand and earlier this week rumours were flying online that Thailand had banned the film.

The film, which also stars Pierce Brosnan and Lake Bell, has been approved by censors to open in September.

“It is not banned or prevented from being screened in Thailand. It’s just a normal action film,” said an official from The National Film and Video Censors Board, according to Khaosod English.

The Hollywood movie is about an American businessman (Wilson) and his family who relocate to Southeast Asia. The family, however, soon find themselves caught up in the middle of a violent uprising.

Reportedly the movie was allowed to shoot in Thailand on the condition the country was not identified on screen, reported Malay online.
