Now that summer is officially here and temperatures are really heating up, we wouldn’t blame you if you’ve started concocting a plan to sneak into one of those fancy hotel pools around the city without actually staying there.
The good news is that you can put all of your Ocean’s Eleven-esque schemes on the backburner — the SO/ Bangkok Pool Party is here, and it’s the perfect event for you to cool down while turning up the (metaphorical) heat.
If you haven’t heard of the SO/ Bangkok Pool Party before, it’s basically what it sounds like: a monthly pool party hosted at the super chic SO/ Bangkok hotel (which is conveniently located just steps away from the Lumpini MRT station). It takes place on the last Saturday of each month, and lasts a good eight hours, from 1pm to 9pm, making it one of the city’s longest-running pool parties. But that’s not the only thing that makes the SO/ Party stand out from the crowd. Instead of being crammed into one small pool, guests will be able to swim around the hotel’s giant infinity pool with, of course, sweeping panoramic cityscape views. Want to chill out for a bit in between dips? You’ll have access to the entire 10th floor, which lets you wander between the pool and the open-air Solarium Oasis Lawn next door where the vibes are more relaxed and intimate.
Speaking of vibes and an action-packed agenda, though, since a successful pool party is all about curating the right vibes, the SO/ team has got you covered with two DJ stages with two different genres so that (again) you can hop around as your mood changes throughout the night. The Solarium stage will feature some hot hip-hop DJs, while the Pool Stage will feature a rotating roster of equally talented international techno and house DJ’s.
Since it’s an eight-hour long party, you can also rest assured that food and drinks will be taken care of (especially the drinks). Try the refreshing cocktails or grab a cold beer and snack on some finger food in lieu of a late lunch, and then order a proper meal like their delicious burgers while taking in the sunset.
And if you’re concerned that this is all going to cost you, say, approximately half a month’s rent, surprise — it’s not! Instead of a pricey single-entry fee, SO/ actually has a range of packages and ticket options based on how much you want to splurge (and how many of you are in a group). An early bird ticket costs THB700 net, and includes entry and a free drink. There’s also the Exclusive Package for THB12,300 net which is a great deal if you’re splitting with friends — it includes five entrance tickets and five drink vouchers, a private table in the VIP Sunken Area that can seat up to five, six mixers, a bottle of Belvedere, Tanqueray, or Johnnie Walker Black Label, and two bottles of Belleville Sparkling Brut. And then for the fully luxurious experience, you have the Top-Tier Package for THB23,000 net, which also includes five entrance tickets and drink vouchers and a table for five in the VIP area, as well as ten mixers, two bottles of Belleville Sparkling Brut, and a bottle of Belvedere Magnum.
This month, SO/Bangkok is hosting their Songkran special, “The Songkran So Pool Party,” which will take place across April 15-16 and involves non-stop music from 1-9pm on both days. Tickets are already available and can be purchased online.
