International Beer Day, which is celebrated annually on the first Friday of August in hundreds of cities across the world, falls on August 2 this year.
We’ve gathered some solid spots to check out in Bangkok this Friday, when beer deals and events will be running at several hophead-friendly venues across town.
The Beer Cap at Saphan 55
This Saturday, the team behind craft beer bar The Beer Cap is hosting a party outside its venue, taking to Saphan 55’s larger digs to gather their beer supplier friends in one huge, open-air space. Here, beer lovers can expect lots of beer with special deals at one place, plus live performances, drinking games and a lucky draw. Tickets are THB300 per person, which includes one beer and a lucky draw ticket.

Beer Belly
This beer hall in Thonglor will mark International Beer Day across two days, Aug 2 and Aug 3, with activities such as drinking games like beer pong, table tennis, drunk Jenga and foosball (the winner of each sport gets a free 3-liter beer tower). The bar will also offer a buy-one-get-one deal on selected draft beers from 5pm until 10pm, while every pint will get a complimentary garlic cheese fries.

Mikkeller
It’s mix n’ match time — all three branches of Mikkeller, including the original in Ekkamai, as well as the new Ari and Siam Discover outposts will feature a 30-percent discount when four beers from four different countries are ordered (not applied for takeaways, though).

The Drunken Leprechaun
This Irish pub inside a downtown hotel will have special deals on Friday, including an all-day happy hour for selected bottled beers and “Round for the Lads,” where any kind of draft beer ordered to share among friends of at least four people will get a 10-percent discount.

Rise Rooftop Bar
Nothing beats sipping a nice cold beer and seeing the capital city from a bird’s eye view. At this bar on the top of the Akyra Manor Hotel, three-hour free-flow beer will run from 7pm until 10pm on Friday. Afterwards, local beers will be available starting at THB89, while all craft beers and ciders are offered at a 20-percent discount.

Hemingway’s
The venue is new, but also, not new. We broke the news when this local favorite watering hole first shut down, then returned at a new location. The recently reopened Hemingway’s Bangkok will have happy hour from 11am until 8pm this Friday, with local bottles starting at THB99 and a 500ml pint of draft beer starting at THB109.
