Cafe Amazon, the Thai coffee chain you frequent only when you stop at a highway rest area and when you go to Immigration at Chaeng Wattana, is expanding their reach to Japan.

Their first branch, in Fukushima prefecture, is a franchise opened by a Japanese company. They hope to open more Cafe Amazon branches in Japan’s main cities of Osaka and Tokyo.

The Japanese Amazon Cafe will feature specialty drinks aimed at Japanese coffee lovers but the beans used will still be 100 percent Thai.

Currently, Japan is one of the top three coffee-consuming countries in the world.

No word if the first Cafe Amazon in Japan is at a highway rest stop, but we hope so.
