A shop is hosting its first anniversary party in celebration of juicing up Bangkok on kratom.
The OG Kratom store on Ratchadaphisek road in Huai Khwang district is hosting their big party this Sunday (Nov. 19), full of cheap kratom drinks and products, weed, and synthwave/techno music.
In this event, customers can find free food from OG Kratom-branded cookies to hot wings courtesy of Firepower Hot Sauces.
All carbonated kratom drinks will be on discount for only THB100 each. They include the four original bottled flavors – cherry, cola, fresh, and original – as well as their more exciting flavors on tap, which include cream soda, root beer, and pineapple.
Music will be provided by DJs Capo Ultra and Turnbull. And of course, there will be lots of weed, too.
“I am grateful for all the love and support people have shown from all over the world,” founder Jake Coyner tells Coconuts. “Kratom has helped many people with their lives and it’s gratifying to be part of their journey.”
OG Kratom, whose signature kratom sodas and assorted products were first distributed to several cafés, bars and dispensaries in Bangkok, was one of the first consumer beverages brands to upscale the leaf and hit the market not long after the drug was decriminalized in late 2021.
The brand first began with four of the aforementioned flavored sodas before they expanded their repertoire with exciting flavors on tap including root beer, cream soda and even longan. Its one and only shop opened on Nov. 20 last year.
Kratom is a leaf found across Southeast Asia. While not psychoactive, it has a stimulant effect in lower doses. It can relieve pain and create a feeling of euphoria akin to a “body high.” In higher doses, it can make users drowsy.
It should be stressed that Kratom is an absolutely addictive substance, as therapeutic as it may be. The plant’s alkaloid contents tickle the same dopamine and serotonin receptors as opiates, and regular use can lead to dependence – and very difficult withdrawal symptoms.
