A sleek, minimalist cafe just opened two weeks ago near MRT Ratchadapisek to sell traditional Korean rice cakes in a range of flavors and varieties.

Named after Korean cooking’s five essential flavors – salty, sweet, sour, bitter and spicy – known as omi, Omi Tteok cooks fresh rice cakes each morning for use in their sweet and savory treats.

For those who crave something outside the rulebook, try the creamy injeolmi (THB180), a sticky rice cake stuffed with red bean and sweet potato cream.

If sweet treats aren’t your cup of tea, Omi also sells classic tteokbokki (THB100) and tteok-kochi, deep-fried rice cakes (THB60), both served hot with gochujang-laced sauce.

You can also get your tteokbokki with deep-fried mandoo (dumplings), kimari (seaweed rolls), or fish cakes, or try it served in a creamy, sweet and spicy sauce (THB110).

Wash it down with sugar-free roasted corn tea (THB50) or cool off with fresh yuzu sorbet (THB60).

Omi Tteok is located just around the corner from the main road Soi Ratchadaphisek 19 and opens from noon until 6pm daily except Tuesday. Customers can pre-order via Facebook or Instagram.
