After three years of serving Mexican-Indian bites inside a colorful, two-story house in Ekkamai, chef Gaggan Anand’s fusion dining spot has relocated to the Phrom Phong area.
Since last week, Ms. Maria and Mr. Singh has joined the eponymous Gaggan Anand Restaurant and is now located on the second floor of its residential setting on Soi Sukhumvit 31.
Among the exciting new things Gaggan fans can expect are the decorations and meals. The venue will be decorated with art inspired by Mexican and Indian destinations Oaxaca and Jodhpur, respectively.
In contrast to the ultra-high-end fare downstairs, the cuisine at Ms. Maria and Mr. Singh is a mix of Indian and Mexican cuisine. It’s currently offering a seven-course tasting menu in a collaboration with Gut Oggau wines at THB2,500 per person with one glass of wine.
Expect classic dishes from new head chef Hernan Crispin Villalva such as ceviche cold curry scallop (THB420), keema quesadilla (THB350) and Gaggan’s crab curry (THB790) and a few new dishes such as the Black Angus short ribs birra (THB1,890), ceviche de yuca (THB320), and pollo a la brasa (THB 880).
To go along with the drinks, diners can order a few punchy new cocktails from the bar.
Ms. Maria and Mr. Singh first opened in Soi Ekkamai 6 in March 2020, before the COVID-19 pandemic hit Thailand. At the time, Gaggan described it as his “curry house dream.”
