A year after moving into its roost beneath a downtown sports club to serve classic cocktails with bold twists, Copper Bar has all new drink selections ready for its first anniversary on Friday.
Having survived pandemic lockdown measures – months of booze bans and bar shutdowns – Copper Bar is throwing a party to show off newly launched tipples created by the man behind the bar (and sometimes kitchen), Fabio Brugnolaro, who cultivated years of bartending experience in Milan before he came to Bangkok.
A finalist at the 2017 Diplomatico World Tournament and former bartender at now-defunct Vogue Lounge and Sul, Brugnolaro is an expert in crafting bespoke cocktails to match customers’ preferences, palates and curiosity.
His 10 new signature cocktails are playful interpretations of classics using top-notch brands and fresh, local ingredients. There’s the savory Triton (THB360), which encapsulates its namesake Greek demigod of the sea by mixing cachaca, violet liqueur with cucumber, lime cordial and sea salt. It’s peppered with parsley and topped with a mini conch – go ahead and press it to your ear for that ocean vibe. Meanwhile, those who want to ascend into the mountains can imbibe Pine Forest (THB360), which makes use of Italian pine liqueur, honey syrup, gin and mastic oil-infused liqueur.
Or kick it up a notch and start the party early with the boozy Tiger & Dragon (THB340), where Chinese white liquor Yushan Mau Tai’s best qualities are activated by a wash of lime juice, gin, tea, ginger vodka, maraschino and egg whites.
Apart from the drinks, Copper Bar also serves classic drunk food like nine-inch pizzas (margherita THB250, salami picante THB270, bolognese THB280) and mini burgers (three burgers for THB270) served fresh from the oven.
Copper Bar’s birthday party starts at 6pm on Friday. The first 15 patrons will get a select signature cocktail on the house and a gin-and-tonic cupcake while supplies last. Reservations are highly recommended.
Copper Bar is on the street level of the Racquet Club on Soi Phrom Si and is best reached on wheels from BTS Phrom Phong. Parking is available.
