Sixteen freestyle rappers from around Myanmar will compete in Yangon this weekend at The Showdown Freestyle Battle, hosted by Full Stop.
The competition will be judged by Anegga, and the event will also feature guest performances by rappers Yan Yan Chan, G-Tone, Bo Htet, Nay, Ba Htoo, Jeep Jeep, Naung Naung, Young Beatz, and Min Thant.
Full Stop CEO Charlie Artingstoll said: “Full Stop is calling the best freestylers Myanmar has to offer, from all corners of the country to compete in a one-time special championship, featuring the finest hip hop Yangon and Mandalay has to offer. It’s going to be special.”
Artingstoll founded Full Stop in 2016 and described it as “the most forward-thinking, creative and innovative events company in Myanmar.” The company borrowed its name and logo from another events company set up in Manchester, UK, in 2013.
The Showdown Freestyle Battle will run from 3pm to 10pm on Saturday, Sept. 8, at downtown Yangon’s Urban Asia Center.
The event is sponsored by Grand Royal Signature whiskey, which is apparently aiming to become more visible among Myanmar youth, including within the country’s hip hop community.
