Police are still searching for a man who apparently wrecked his own car after losing control of it along Sims Way and crashing into a drain near Geylang Lorong 6 last night. Essentially, the dude’s car was ditched in a ditch (sorry).

It’s unclear why he fled the scene, but it probably had something to do with him avoiding trouble with the authorities. Police confirmed to The Straits Times that they were alerted to the accident at 8:53pm, with no injuries reported.

An eyewitness told Shin Min Daily News that the white car had been zooming along the road when it skidded, plowed through a railing, and plunged straight into the ditch. Two men helped the driver — who appeared to be in his 20s or 30s — out of the car, and the man disappeared promptly before police arrived at the scene. Surely he knows that the cops can easily trace him based on the car’s license plate number.

This would be the second case of cars nosediving into drains in less than a week. On Dec 13, a 67-year-old woman crashed her car into a ditch along Bukit Timah Road after losing control of her vehicle. She was not able to flee the scene, however, and had to be extricated by Singapore Civil Defence Force rescuers.
