The second half of this month is not expected to be as wet and dreary as what we faced in the past couple of weeks, but it’ll still be cold-ish nonetheless. Not that we’re complaining.

The National Environment Agency (NEA) forecasts inter-monsoon conditions to last all the way through November, which means that we’ll be seeing both warm weather and thunderstorms — described to be “intense” at times. Lightning activity does tend to be higher during the inter-monsoon months after all.

NEA explained that Singapore has been seeing wet weather the past week due to the presence of easterly winds bringing moisture from the Tropical Central Pacific Ocean to the southern Southeast Asia region. But it was a great respite from the dry and warm days in the first of October, when temperatures reached as high as 35.6°C at Marina Barrage on Oct 5.

The rest of October will see localized short-duration thundery showers thanks to strong day-time heating of land areas. One or two days will have widespread thundery showers accompanied with gusty winds in the early morning, making our commutes to work either nice and cool or just dripping wet.

Temperature wise, most days are forecast to range between 25°C and 33°C, with the possibility of the mercury rising up to 35°C in dry afternoons.
